Some coffees ask you to pay attention. Dark Symphony is one of them.

Sourced from the Yirgacheffe region of Ethiopia — the birthplace of coffee itself — this washed single origin is grown at altitude on ancient heirloom trees that have been producing exceptional beans for generations. Hand-picked and sun-dried, these are beans that carry the full character of their landscape.

In the cup, Dark Symphony opens with a rich bouquet of floral notes — jasmine and honeysuckle — woven through with hints of bergamot. As it develops, dark chocolate and ripe blueberry emerge, creating a layered, complex profile that deepens as the cup cools. The body is medium with a velvety mouthfeel, and the acidity is soft and citric, bright without sharpness.

This is a coffee that rewards patience. Pour it, let it breathe, and drink it slowly.

Why Dark Symphony?

Ethiopian Yirgacheffe is widely regarded as one of the finest coffee origins in the world. When the beans are this good and the roast is handled with care, the result is something genuinely special. Dark Symphony is our tribute to that tradition — complex, layered, and quietly extraordinary.

Roasted to order in small batches in Oxfordshire. Each bag is weighed precisely and labelled with its exact final weight.

This is exceptional and my favourite. I grind the beans to make espresso. Compared with other Ethiopian beans I've tried, and other dark roasts, these have incredible flavour, aroma, and richness. The website's description is spot-on. (Also great to see the new package designs.)
